Advanced Hockey: Building the Complete Hockey Player

Welcome to Advanced Hockey, where we're dedicated to shaping well-rounded, skilled hockey players. Our development model, "Building the Complete Hockey Player," is structured into four fundamental building blocks, each essential for maximizing a player's potential on the ice and love of the game. Let's explore how we construct a competitive hockey player, one block at a time.

Block 1: Power Skating

Power skating lays the foundation for speed, agility, and efficiency on the ice. It's about mastering the technique and mechanics of skating to gain an edge over opponents and excel in all areas of the game.

  • Stride Development: Focus on generating power through proper pushing technique and leg extension.
  • Edge Work: Mastering inside and outside edges for tight turns, quick pivots, and fluid transitions.
  • Acceleration and Deceleration: Enhancing explosiveness and control to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Balance and Stability: Improving core strength and body control for better balance in all skating movements.

Our power skating stations are led by experienced coaches who utilize drills, exercises, and personalized feedback to refine each player's skating technique and enhance their performance on the ice.

Block 2: Technical Skills

Skills development is essential for maintaining possession, creating scoring opportunities, and making plays on the ice. It encompasses a range of techniques, including puck control and puck handling, which are fundamental for success in hockey.

  • Puck Control: Mastering the ability to keep the puck on your stick while maneuvering through traffic and under pressure.
  • Puck Handling: Developing soft hands and quick reflexes to move the puck with precision and creativity.
  • Passing Accuracy: Improving passing technique and vision to deliver crisp, accurate passes to teammates.
  • Shooting Accuracy and Power: Enhancing shooting technique and strength to deliver powerful and accurate shots on goal.

Our skills development sessions focus on repetitive drills, simulated game situations, and individualized feedback to refine each player's puck-handling abilities and elevate their overall skill level.

Block 3: Hockey IQ & Individual Tactics

Hockey IQ, or hockey intelligence, is the ability to read the game, anticipate plays, and make smart decisions on the ice. It's about understanding the nuances of the game and applying strategic thinking to gain a competitive advantage.

  • Game Awareness: Developing a keen sense of awareness of the players, puck, and space on the ice.
  • Tactical Understanding: Learning offensive and defensive strategies.
  • Decision-Making: Making split-second decisions under pressure.
  • Anticipation: Anticipating plays before they happen and positioning oneself for success.

Our hockey IQ development focuses on creating on-ice scenarios to enhance players' understanding of the game and empower them to make informed decisions on the ice.

Block 4: Conditioning and Strength

Physical fitness is crucial for success in hockey, as it directly impacts a player's speed, endurance, and resilience on the ice. Conditioning and strength training are essential components of our development model.

  • Endurance: Building cardiovascular fitness to sustain high-intensity performance throughout games and practices.
  • Strength and Power: Developing muscular strength and explosive power to win battles along the boards.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: Improving range of motion and flexibility to prevent injuries and optimize skating mechanics.

Our conditioning and strength programs are designed and tailored to each player's age, level, and goals. We utilize a variety of exercises and techniques to enhance players' physical capabilities and resilience on the ice.
